WHAT DO WE AIM TO ACHIEVE?

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

EDUCATING YOUTH FOOTBALL PLAYERS TO GENDER EQUALITY

Football training sessions for male and female players aged 16 and older will include on-field activities focused on promoting gender equality. Specially trained coaches will supervise these activities, including tasks related to STEM and perceived self-efficacy. Subsequently, the coaches will promote and facilitate discussions designed to foster deep reflection on the issues addressed, highlight the importance of gender equality, and encourage active participation. This effort aims to empower young people to serve as ambassadors of these values, both on and off the football field.

Providing coaches with skills to promote gender equality among female and male youth football players

To empower coaches with the expertise to advocate for gender equality, guidelines, and an online course will be provided. These resources will be freely available to everyone, ensuring broad accessibility. The participating federations will distribute these guidelines directly to coaches, while UEFA, in collaboration with the UEFA Foundation for Children, will disseminate them to the 55 associated football federations.

Promoting gender equality in the larger society

To promote education and awareness about gender equality in the broader society, a series of initiatives, including public events and a media campaign, will be planned. On one hand, young football players involved in the project will serve as ambassadors of gender equality, spreading these values in schools and the community through events and through the use of social media, where they will share content to reach a wide audience. At the same time, the football associations, UEFA, and the UEFA Foundation for Children, together with the communications association and participating schools, will conduct an extensive media campaign. This effort aimed at promoting social inclusion and equality will also involve the players of the national football teams, who will serve as role models. This multi-level collaboration aims to spread the values of the European Union on and off the football field.
